okay so i just had an idea..

when my zuk went in for its mot its was over for the emissions but the mot man was kind enough to let it pass cause it was so close, so im thinking about fitting an emisions sensor of some sort would a lambda sensor work? i would like to be able to keep an eye on my emissions from inside my zuk weather its on a small screen or i can plug my laptop into something?

anyone got any ideas?..

How old is the Zuk?

My MOT man told me me suzuki is too old for emissions testing.

its a 1987, 25 year old, i got it mot'd a month before it turned 25..

Here's the mot rules these should be easy to meet with an SJ, it's always worth checking that the tester knows what class older vehicles are in because some seem to forget!
Personally I think it's more hassle fitting a sensor than it would be worth, just find someone with a gas analyser, set it up with that and jobs a good'un!

so basically it mine only needs to be tested at idle speed? not at a raised idle speed, maybe that how he cheated the machine lol

i thought it would be a cool mod to do to my zuk, and probably the only zuk to have that kind of mod? i will have to do some research to see if it can be done i got the idea off this video...

they just seem to be using a lambda sensor and a monitor of some sort, but im worried that it might cost a bomb! lol

this is the kind of thing im looking for, but its a bit expensive at £132 haha mybe i wont be doing this mod after all lol

I thought you were selling the Sj due to insurance?
If you're to fit a lambda sensor you want to fit a wideband lambda sensor and gauge (measures a wide spectrum accurately) most cars run narrowband lambda as they are already mapped. The narrow band only measures accurately across a small (narrow band) then above that it could read far out, but only be slightly above the narrowband.

They are generally only used on cars for mapping or cars with adjusted fuelling (Modified cars) so you can see how far the AFR is out when mapping, or monitor is during general running.

These plug into aftermarket ECU's, you can get cheaper wideband lambda's aswell.

keeping it now, managed to get the insurance down to 1800 again, plus id rather keep the zuk cause i know it works and i know exactly whats been done to it, if i buy another car then who knows whats been done to it, was just looking as it will help me keep an eye on how the engine is running, and ill be able to tune the carb so its letting out the right emissions for mot, and if something goes wrong with the carb itll show on the emissions reading on the monitor, just another gadget to add to my zuk alont with my remote central locking and i might get power windows lol

Hmmm, i'll just keep getting mine MOT'd at the same garage as he never emissions tests it.

The past two MOTs my SJ has done it's been six times over the limit on carbon monoxide. 10 minutes with the carb and it sailed through about six times under both times. Hopefully with my SU on now it'll pass without that problem.
