soft top - front plastic bar missing??

Post by theboy » Mon Jan 28, 2013 9:39 am

Hi,

I have a spare soft top (think its the original one)

The one fitted to my sammy currently has a plastic bar at the front which clips into the windscreen surround.

The spare roof does not have one, is it needed to make the roof fit/ seal correctly? Or is this the way they are designed?

If I do need one can you get a spare bar from anywhere these days?

Alright Tom

I have had after market soft tops for ages and not seen an OE roof for some years but I'm pretty sure the OE doesn't have a plastic bar just a kinda rigid section that slots in to the top of the screen. Can you fit the item you have on your Suzuki?

Gotta tell I'd love an OE soft top with the internal fabric on the roof so less drips on head etc and the tension straps made life a lot easier. The quality of EVERY after market item has been very second best...you get what you pay for and i guess they are cheap

Cheers
Paul

cheers Paul,i havent had a go at fitting yet as i though there was something missing from the front of it (i.e some kinda plastic metal bar sown in)

Can anyone else confirm if their soft top doesn't have any kind of rigid bar at the front where it loops into the screen??

cheers

Tom
