Little help from the "Pros"

As most of you no the amount of help topics I have out up. I have just put a 1600 vitara spi lump in my sammy. I have I running now to a fashion, the problem now is my temp gauge seams to be off the scale in to the red asif it was over heating. But it didn't boil over or any think like that. So I was thinking that mabye the coolant temp sensor has a different tolerances or sum thing along those line so it shows up higher than it really is. What do you guys think

When I fitted the 1.6 16v I had to remove the vit temp sender from the thermostat housing and fit my original samurai sender as I had the same problems as you

im pretty sure i have read somewhere before that the vit one reads hot on the sj cluster. so i would say put the sj one in

Right, iv put in a new sj coolant temp sensor and its still same. I was gona check temp with a digital thermometer. Can any one tell me the temp it should've or if any one gas any idears. Thanks andy

I've always took the ideal temp (middle of gauge) to be 90' also it would be a worthwhile idea investing in an aftermarket gauge just to be safe

The aftermarket gauge will come with a sender aswell, and are simple enough to wire up it's just a farse running the wires sometimes.

Did you buy a new aftermarket sender? Some of these have the wrong resistances.

Have you not got the sender from your old 1.3 to use?

No i sold the old inlet and carb so had to buy a new one is there's resistance check I can do with multimeter and a pan of hot water. Does any one no what restance is should be
