410 5 speed

Post by Ade6873 » Sun Mar 10, 2013 8:55 pm

Picked up my 410 the other day and just taken it out on the road for the first time and popped it into what I thought was 5th and there doesn't seem to be any noticeable difference between 4th and 5th.

Any suggestions ?

There isn't a huge ratio difference between 4th and 5th only drops the revs by about 500ish rpm.

I'd say the 5th was more like overdrive in old cars, slightly pointless all my 410 seemed to do in 5th was drop speed but then again it needed tuning and I never took it on any dual carriage ways!

I think 5th is needed if you run small tyres on a 410, they do rev quite high in 4th at 55mph+

When I was running 31s I hardly used 5th though, wasn't worth shifting into 5th until I hit 50mph and the road was flat, but it would just about trundle along in 5th at 30mph

It shouldn't loose speed, sounds like it needed a good tune up.
