Tintop

Hi All,
So here's the thing. My Sammy is not going to pass her MOT at the end of the month :-( electrics and bodywork
The sensible thing to do would be to sell her on ebay as an "off roader", but when have I ever been sensible !?!
She is my first SJ, and there is something... lets call it carmance about it, I know she's uncomfortable, drinks more oil than petrol, too small, and... uncomfortable, but I'm in love.
Last January in all that snow, I went out for a drive just for fun. Guess what ? the nice police man had shut the A399 because of the 4 feet snow drifts, told the chap in front, in a brand new Range Rover he'd have to turn round and go back, then took one look at my old Sammy and pronounced "ohh you'll be alright in that mate - no problem, through you go". And I did. The smile lasted all day.
So, on to the point of this thread. I'm planning on a re-build from the boots up, nice new shinny 1.6 lump (has anyone tried to supercharge one?) runner gear, etc. And I'd like to convert her from a plastic hard top (which is crap and leaks all the time) to a tin top. I don't really want to sell her and buy a tintop, I want to re-shell her into a tintop.
Can anyone think of a reason why this cannot be done? looks like 10 bolts and a sh!t load of fiddling to me.
Also, does anyone have a tintop shell knocking about?
Ta.
