Fuel Injection Fuel Tank

Post by Ladaman » Fri May 10, 2013 8:05 pm

Just a bit of general question really as there isn't much choice in the outcome.

What's the purpose of the small white bottle thing on the top of my tank? (This is the tank removed from the Ignis donor car I'm using)

The hose on the RHS is connected to the fuel filler pipe, so acting as a breather. The nearest left one is the pressurised fuel supply, so the other must be fuel return. So why the bottle before returning to the tank? Why not just back to the tank. Or have I got it all wrong?

Any ideas?

Thats the vapor/fuel separator.
It goes to the canister up front, part of the emissions system.
In the diagrams it doesn't show a fuel return pipe.

Darrell, that's great thanks.

So it connects to the evaporation pipe shown coming out of item 17 on the first diagram.

I'd just assumed that was a sort of fuel regulator, and the evaporation pipe was a return.

The first diagram has also cleared up the "spare" opening I have on item 7, I now know it goes to pipe 19 :D

Where on earth do you find all these diagrams? Could you point me in the direction of the source of these three, I'm sure there will be some more useful stuff to settle my interest.
