Quick question about G13B block

Post by Jay18 » Fri May 17, 2013 11:35 am

just been looking on fleabay and searched G13B and it seems the old swift GTI, Suzuki Jimny and Subaru Justy share the same engine block, is this true?

Same physical block but there are different, stronger internals in the GTI and different pistons.

All G13 blocks are pysically identical apart from the deck height and that is show by the first letter i.e. A & B part of the engine code

G13A = 77mm stroke (1324cc)
G13B = 75.7mm stroke (1298cc)

Also bear in mind that the Gti block has pistons with extra cutouts for all 16 valves

The G13 fitted to 8V engine has weaker internals (i.e. conrods) and only has pistons with cutouts for 8valves

If you want to fit the GTI engine then it's easiest to buy a complete GTI engine unless you want to try and source all the GTI internals to fit into a G13B block.
