decent water proof snorkel go in be brave drive out the other side job done

Depends how deep it is.
If its real deep snorkel and water proof the electrics. Anything upto a couple of foot just go for it.

Mine will run underwater 95% of the time

I've never had an issues in water yet. I'd like to get my snorkel on at some point though.
Electrics will dry out. A liberal coating of WD40 or similar seems to help too.
Biggest issue i always had on the SJ was the headlamps filling up if you staying in the water too long.

Ive never had a problem with cutting out underwater, the last bit of fording I did came up to the tops of the wings and ended up OK!
Cheap thing to do that could save you, seal the distributor cap with a rubber/latex glove and some cable ties! The dizzy is by far the most susceptible part to water IMHO
Everything else will get wet, stop working, then dry out, dizzy gets soaked and ur stopped haha
