Fuel tank advice appreciated

I have been after a new fuel tank as the previous owner has landing on something at some point and popped the bottom rather far in reducing the capacity somewhat. But rather than just replacing mine im planning to fit one in the back to avoid this happening again.
All i know about fuel tanks is knowing the fuel tank in my vivaro has a low pressure fuel pump in it, am i right in assuming SJ's will not, and the fuel is just pulled through from the engine, in which case can i literally just throw any tank in the bank and just hook up the fuel line? Or is there more to it than that. Do i need a special kind of tank, certain fitting etc.
I know this question is a bit vague but its hard to ask a specific question about something that i know nothing about!! but if anyone has any guidance on what i should be looking for/problems i can expect etc. that would be great thanks!

Your assumption about the fuel pump is correct, the engine's fuel pump will pull the fuel through by itself.
If you went fuel injection, you would probably need a pump at the tank too.
I'm not sure on regs regarding what kind of tank you can use, but I'd bet it has to be a certain type!
I do know for sure though that you need a bulkhead/metal wall inbetween the fuel tank and the passenger compartment

ill throw a picture up when i get home but i have a custom bulk head in at the moment... 'custom bulk head' sounds a bit fancier than it is, its a big sheet of galv steel badly cut and horribly welded into place, but it does the job, and when pay day comes im going to pick up a bikini top. But want to get the fuel tank sorted before i do any of that. Im not sure what the fuel capacity should be on the 410's but i know i can fill up with about 25L!

There is no mention of this anywhere in the MOT manual so you don't need to box it in or have a firewall, all that is required is that it vents to the outside of the vehicle, is secure and doesn't leak.
MSA competition rules however do require a firewall or box and no fuel lines can run inside the vehicle.

Ahhh thats true its not in MOT or C&U... I thought it was!
Anyway, King of the Valleys reckon its a good idea and I agree with them!
9.13 h. It is strongly recommended that the fuel tank is covered with an outer metal container, which acts as a second line of defence in the event of the vehicle being inverted in an accident.
Seems quite a sensible idea for an off roader

Do you basically just need a water tight box with a fuel out line, a filler hole, and a breather hole? How does the fuel gauge bit work is my next question?

Fuel gauge is just like a ball cock with a resisitor in it.
Filler cap, fuel feed & return, breather.
Leave this one with me. I have something up my sleeve for mine. So my modded tank may be up for grabs.

When ever i'm home next i'm off to see an engineer about making me a fuel tank (just spoke to them). All i would need is the sender (fuel gauge bit) out of mine.
