Hi guys,
I want to add a cigarette lighter to my SJ (i don't, and never will smoke, It's for my phone and Sat Nav etc)
Where do I get the supply from? (No sarcy comments about 'the battery' please!) Do I wire it straight into the battery or from the ignition (Same supply for the switches that control lights etc)
Many Thanks
Huw Jones

if you have a radio it would be easiest to share the ignition feed from that.

Put inline fuse in and think it comes of the ignition matey

Yep do wat mk1 Joe said

Try looking around under the dash as there was a cable hiding under the dash which was the cigeratte lighter as the radio and cigerette lighter share the same fuse I think

The wiring diagram shows a "white with black tracer" going to the radio, fused at 15A. This wire is also shown to go to the cigarette lighter socket if fitted. This wire comes direct from the ignition switch ACC position. Just use a suitable size wire to connect the socket to it (assuming the socket is rated at 15amps). Earth the socket where ever is easiest.

I wired up a cigarette lighter unit to the SJ this evening. I used the power to the Stereo like Mk1joe suggested.
I started off with one of those extensions that you plug into your existing Cigarette lighter that splits it into two sockets and a USB power supply. I chopped off the plug off and wired it into two terminal blocks. One then went to the power for the stereo and the other to an earth point. I used one of the bolts that hold down the gear stick gaiter.
I then used some super-duper double sided foam tape stuff, to attach it underneath the stereo.
I didn't want to put it on top of the dash as that space is reserved for a CB.
Photos will follow tomorrow.
