Strongest, FWH vs Locked Hubs
I am reluctant to change my front hubs to FWH as i don't know which are strongest?
Whats everyones thoughts?
I have AVM FWHs on my LWB which i'm either selling or fitting to my Zuk.

Id guess its got to be locked hubs.
Id fit the fwh and just keep a locked flange spare in the cab Might save a few quid
In juice on the drive down to Wiltshire. I also found my swb drives nicer with fwhs.

Yeah, i was gonna sell them. Tempted to fit them to the yellow one and see how it goes.
Maybe its just me but i do like the idea of a full float and all four hubs being the same.
Which are best to AVM, Aisin, Superwinch?

Hmmmm.
I need to strip these hubs i have and see if they are ok. They lock and unlock. Which is a good start.

Aisin fwh are probably the strongest and the only ones I would fit. the ones they use on hilux's are identical apart from the splined centre section.
I wouldn't bother with AVM some of the old ones are apparently good but I've seen brand new ones fail in a few months.

I think i'm gonna stick with locked hubs.
Need to get the cash together for a full float and full set of axle bearings all round!!!
Anything worth anything i'm trying to flog!

If used on road a lot, with big tyres I think some fwh are a must! Don't just save fuel but they also reduce wear on the front diff, props and CVs etc. it does actually drive nicer with them unlocked too.
I've had the same Aisin hubs on my SJ since I've had it, it's always had 31"+ mud terrains and I've blown up many a CV joint but never had to replace a fwh
