Sj axles help

Post by bones » Mon Jul 08, 2013 11:50 am

Hi i need some advice I've sold my vitara and just bought a suzuki sj 413 it's needs a front cv and both rear bearings. I can't find the rear bearing no were only main delear £155 + vat. I've got a set off Sam axels laying around. Would they be better all together to change to them? I use it on off road it's not my every day drive. Also are Sam axels stronger then the 413 I know they are longer?

hello, same bearings on both. muddyzook.com seems to be reasonably priced for rear bearings.

if you fitted the sami axles youd need to relocate the spring perches as the 413 has a narrower track.

should be able to knock the cv off one of your spare sami front half shafts and fit that on the 413 half shaft. I find clamping the half shaft vertically in the vice and using two hammers in the 3 and 9 position to knock the cv off works best.

Hi,

On ebay you can pick the wheel bearing up pretty cheap (OEM standard) or big jimny or LLama sell the Koyo (the bearing suzuki supply) rear wheel bearing kit cheap enough!

I'm not sure on the CV's myself as I havn't looked, Samurai axles are wider & I wouldn't say they're particularly stronger they're used to give you extra width which helps you fit in rutt's and increase stability if you've lifted your Suzuki.

Do bare in mind the Sammy & 413 diff ratio's are different.

Check the transmission & axle forum stickies, tell you all the bearing sizes part numbers, and also axle width's/ratio's etc! Plenty of information.

All SJs use the same wheel bearings so you should have no issues getting a wheel bearing kit, all motor factors can get them, muddyzook.co.uk sell cheap kits as well as loads of other suzuki parts websites.

You can fit a samurai CV joint onto the 413 halfshaft.

I have a few spare used CVs, I won't want much for one and can post.

That's not right? Even LJ80s use the same rear wheel bearings? maybe the kit had the wrong bearings in?

They should all be bearing code 6207 2rs (2 rubber seals) 35mmx72mmx17mm

Saying that mate the box with the bearing came in there was only 1 rubber so most off bin wrong. I was thinking off putting 50mm spacers on the 413 axles but I think it eat bearings faster with the off set off my wheels. I think it be best if I just change my axels over.

Be careful when ordering though. I seem to remember ordering some bearings for my samurai and getting ones that didn't fit.
might be worth checking with your motor factors or bearing supplier if the inner race is wider than the outer race
scottie tells me that some bearings may either have a wider inner race or come with a 4mm spacer
ive definitely bought a bearing without either before so might be worth checking as it may depend on manufacturer

if I use the system at work, the front bearing for my 410 is a brt1213 and the rear is a brt973, or fbk448 front and fbk449 rear if you want the firstline numbers.
