Hello chaps, is there anyone on this forum that is near Boston, Lincolnshire that would be possibly willing to help out a beginner with welding ? I have a serious problem with my sammy body, it requires a lot of welding !! I have never welded before and haven't got a clue where to start as there's so much bleeding rust ! I'm sorry I won't be able to pay for your time as I have a very limited budget but refreshments will be supplied :D I would greatly appreciate any help as I want to get this thing on the road pretty soon  Thanks in advance, Eddie.

Get some scrap metal from a local metal fabricator, most of them will let you take some to practise on!
My old local one let me have so much that I welded most of my holes with metal from there!

I'd second what Twiss said.

I basically got a cheap gasless MIG and went to a KwiK Fit. They gave me a handful of old bits of exhaust and I got practising. I would say that better preparation makes a better weld. Make sure the surfaces are clean and clear of debris. Just practice on a bit of scrap that's a similar gauge to make sure your machine settings are right before starting on something you actually want to work with too. Apart form that it's pretty straight forward really!

If you were nearer I'd be happy to help or lend you my MIG but unfortunately you're too far away :(
