engine number

Mr insurance wants the engine number of my new engine, does anyone know where I can find the engine number on a 1.3 Spanish block? Can't find it anywhere! Thanks!
I've had a 1324cc and a 1298cc, and on both the engine number was on the right hand side of the block (looking at it from the front of the vehicle) near the bellhousing - from memory!
Mine was smeared with crap and grease, so I missed it and had to ask the same question.
