when I turn full lock I get a loud crunch noise from the front at slow speed, only seems to make the noise once every turn. jacked it up and cant feel any play anywhere. Any ideas where to start?

Could be the cv joint.
I would jack up the front axle, put it on full lock and give the wheels a turn.
Hopefully this will let you know which side.
I assume you have fixed hubs !!
Normally when worn they will click on full lock, but sometimes they break up.
You could take the drive flanges off and spin the wheels to make sure the wheel bearings are OK
I would assume it's not the diff as it happens on full lock.

my bet is the cv joint it self is on its way out... mine is doing it all the time and pulls to the right in 4 wheel high or low!

I believe you can remove just the wheel spindle and withdraw the shaft from the knuckle.
I don't think this applies to all models so I would wait for somebody who knows what there talking about :D

Otherwise you've got to pull lots more apart

If you can get an entire hub with a decent shaft already attached then that makes it easier!
The most annoying part is the damn circlips on the shaft! Even with circlip pliers they can still be fiddly little bastards sometimes!

I just used pointy nose plieds to spread the clip and eased it out with a small fine screwdriver.

Its getting them back on that's the pain!
Yes they very nicely threaded the end of the halfshaft to take a hub bolt, but it can still be a but of an arse!
