Any tractor experts on here?

I need something for grass cutting and possibly hedge cutting as well. I don't want to buy a tractor so I'm considering hooking up a PTO to the tcase on the Blitz and fitting a three-point fixing on the back. Rockwatt can do an output flange for the tcase but what else will I need? I know I need a clutch of some sort, what speed should the PTO run at? I could run the stock tcase or a rock lobster, I don't know how the lower gearing would affect the PTO.
Cheers
James

Speak to rockwatt, pretty sure he could do something, there is like a blanking casting in a sj box. Could maybe get him to do something with that?

the pto speed you need depends on the attachment you are running, so best see what you are looking to run, get the specifications for it, and then have a talk to rockwatt

How does that work on a tractor then do they have another gearbox on the PTO?

yes, i belive they have like a seperate t box just for the pto. on the modern tractors you just have a lever to activate and deactivate the pto, and also to select the speed of the pto, and generally an emergency stop as well

I'd like to be off some assistance but tractors are my least favourte thing to drive. There are far too many buttons and levers.

There won't be on this - buttons and levers cost money

Wikipedia says 540RPM for a 'standard' PTO, I guess now I have to decide how fast I want to cut the grass

tractor would be easier as you would high revs and very slow forwards speed , think some of the hedge cutters plug into tractor hyraulic systems too

Pto on the new holland down at the farm is variable speed but again as with tractors haveing 20odd gears you can have the pto spinng increably fast wile only doing 2 or 3mph its complicated stuff you can get hydroilcy operated tow along mowers with could be ran with slight modifactiong off a power stearing pump seen it done befor or you could rig up some form of hydro system with bits off ebay for much less than the cost of trying to set a pto up
Howeve series 1 green ovals had a pto option at the factory (incredably rare) but if you could find some piks or plans of one useing the power of google this may help you on you quest
