MOT passed, emissions not so much, thoughts on SU?

Basically I took the zuk to get the MOT done and the emissions were double what they should be, so I got them to put it back on the machine so I could tweak it to get it right, couldn't get it to go bellow 400 so he passed it for me as he knows I will get it sorted..

I need to know what SU carb to go for and if I need an adapter, also how easy are they to tune?

I wouldnt advise you saying its past even though its technically failed.

Dont want you getting your mot guy in trouble.

yeah if your carb is getting a bit past it an su is deffo the way to go in my opinion. perhaps a service and a fuel treatment to treat the old girl might help with the emissions too.

as for what type of su I believe its hif44. I haven't got an adapter plate on mine but someone on here may have one lurking about, if not rockwatt is the man for the job I belive bud

I think you might be better with a weber tbh. I fitted one to my old one it was dead easy and easier to tune than an SU (I think)

He must have gone to a lot of trouble to pass the emissions for you when it failed. Not exactly an easy step to get round without breaking the rules quite a lot. Take it the guy is a friend ?

Is it subject to emissions at that age?

Mine only got tested last year on emissions for a laugh.

The place I go to says all cars have to pass the carbon monoxide and unburnt fuel tests. It's some sort of environmental bullshit.

There's a reason I'm not mentioning the Garage that done it but we were fiddling with the carb trying to get the emissions down but couldn't get it low enough, so it should have been a fail, and since the guy sorted a pass for me I want to get it right ASAP, what engine treatment is the best for it? I've used refer but that doesn't seem to of done anything, I'm only looking at the SU carb route as I want to know if it's easier to tune..

Also it's a 410, I think it's the HIF 38? I heard that it doesn't need an adapter to fit? Can't seem to find one on fleabay though, not sure if webers would run a f10a or how hard they'd be to fit?
