I have picked up two general grabber MT tyres and two challenger invader tyres, they're all 31 x 10.50 R15, the guy previously had the two grabber on inner tubes so they were stronger off road, do they need inner tubes or are they only really for tyres tha have punctured?

And do garages usually have inner tubes to fit 31's?

Hi kida, by law you cant use them on roads, but off road is ok, i have used them in the past, only as i couldnt get a seal in the rims, they were also 31`s. soem garages will sort tubes but soem wont.

The tyres are fine, innertubes have been illegal for years now, though. I don't know about trailers (they *might* still be legal on trailers) but on cars, trucks and busses, innertubes are now illegal.

Okay brilliant, can't wait to get them on the zuk, going to need to do a fair bit of work getting them to fit, definitely going to need the radio louder when driving down to Kettering haha, hopefully get them on my wheels tomorrow..

Will add pics but most of you have probably seen them on facebook..

There are few reasons not to use inner tubes, or why they have been fitted, not really heard of it making the tyre stronger. One reason not to is if used on road is that the inner tube can cause friction when it moves against the tyre, and that will cause a blow out. Some tyres are not good to take inner tunes, be good to check when you get them fitted. i believe that tyres suitable have a grip they tread on the inside for tubes not to move aswell.

I didn't know they were illegal? What about motorbikes or cars with spoked rims? When I had 31's I ran tubeless until I accidentally dropped my spare tyres onto a nail when I was moving it around the garage, the nail went straight through the sidewall - I was gutted as I had never used it. I took it to a garage and they put a tube in it no problem, I kept it as my spare as I didn't think it would have the same rolling mass as my others, if I was going to run tubes, I'd make sure both tyres on the same axle had them fitted,

There is always a possibility that with any side wall damage that a tyre can blow out. its just what i have been advised by most tyres fitters. I was going to by a set a few week back for my shoggy, all had pin hole damage to side wall,i called a few tyre places and they said they wouldnt fit tubes and that only a pin hole can cause a blow out, they were cheap but that would always be in the back of my mind when doing 60+ down the motorway.
