I've almost got my body lift kit ready just need to loosen fuel filler hose, remove filler hose gaurd, remove bolts from brake feed splitter and do something with the steering shaft, any ideas how I losen it? I read on the samurai that there are two plastic pins in the shaft to remove but is this the best way to do it? Will that not effect safety?

Those 2 plastic pins are just to hold the two sections together. As the two sections have been held there for about 25 years there is very little chance of them moving on there own even without the pins. Infact you will probably have to hit it very hard with a big hammer to lengthen it for the body lift.

Right okay well I've just got to make some big washers for the lift and just waiting on a drill bit in the post, so going to get the mounts undone and get the body on some blocks of wood and sort out the studs..

you don't even need to drill the pins out, they aren't really pins from what I can tell, looks more like just where the shaft is injected with plastic to hold the shafts together a bit tighter. it's set up like that so that in the event of a cracsh the shaft collapses instead of spearing through your chest

Put the outer section in a vice then find a bit of bar/long bolt. insert into column, hit with hammer to lengthen.

Sounds complicated? Lol will I need prop spacers or anything? I'm going to do the body lift and just see how it goes, if the stick is still functional and I can still get all gears with no problems then I'll probably leave it being short...

as long as you lift the tbox an keep it level, ie lift all points an equal amount, I would say it'll be fine. you just have to make sure your propshaft angles don't get too bad, and a 25mm lift would be fine without spacers I think, this is a good mod to lift the vehicle belly, it's less stuff to get stuck on
