SJ410 more torque and power?

With insurance being extremely high at the moment any engine conversion is going to be put of for a year or two so what can I do to gain more power and torque out of the 1.0?

I'll try and find a janspeed exhaust for it and get myself a k&n filter..

What sort of carbs would I be able to use on it?

Does the SU gain any power or torque at all?

Someone mentioned quad carbs, I seen then fitted to a 413 on the internet but never a 410, also how could I go about making a manifold for them?

What are people's thoughts on electric superchargers? I seen a video on YouTube that's shown no power gains at all but would it be different on a carb'd engine..

Thanks for any help...

why do you want more power out of the 1L, just rag the fudge out of it and you'll end up where you need to be!!

Have you considered a vitara?

In all seriousness you will have to spend a few quid on the f10 engine
To get much power ouy of it. Plus the extra fuel costs.
Also you are supposed to tell the insurance if modify the exhaust or
Intake system too.

The little one litre is what it is and I think you have to accept it for that
And drive it accordingly.

Try a quote on a vit and maybe it would work out better for you?

A K&N filter won't make any difference. The Janspeed manifold might but I think you need some careful tuning first. Get your ignition timing advanced and the carb running just so.
I'm planning on Dyno-ing my SJ (Z-cars is a sponsor of our Formula Student Team and they let us Dyno our cars for £50.) So I'll tell you what mine is putting out once that's done, but I'm pretty sure it's more than the brochure says - 45hp.

That's what I'm doing too. The only times I find I want a bigger engine and higher gear ratios are on Motorways and straight A-roads.

Around Hull and on back roads she goes plenty quick enough.

Yep that's the only thing I really would like is it to be able to cruise along at 70 or near enough as I use it to drove 140 miles to Kettering....

I don't think the 1.0 would go very well with 413 axles though, think it would really struggle to pull away then, so would like some sort of engine conversion just don't know what yet, will see next year...

To be fair, I do love my 1600, especially on my newest exhaust.

I knew a guy with a Janspeed tuned 410 and it was very quick. The head was reworked with a reprofiled cam and a 1 1/2" SU with a full exhaust with manifold. It ran the stock airbox plumbed to a snorkel. When he broke it I bought the full exhaust and 1 1/2" SU and that made a big difference on my 410. I ran that with a 413 dizzy set up so I didn't have to keep messing with the points.
