Folks,

Bet that subject heading caught your eye?

Im currently speccing a low pressure turbo set up for my 2000 1.6 8v SPI vitara short wheel base. My list is nearly complete and I need to know a couple of things which are proving difficult to find

1. Current fuel injector spec and if theres any upgrade with the same dimensions that anyones aware of
2. what type of air mass sensor is present (to decide if I can get away with a piggyback ECU)
3. Im sure there will be more but ill get back to you

Any help would be much appreciated!

Cheers

Josh

I'm looking at doing his setup in my SJ next year, 1.6 8v turbo, but I want to use a megasquirt ECU as it should work better with the turbo setup, if you have any pics of progress I'm sure we all would like to see this...

A for the information you need, I have no idea sorry! But I will see what I can find for you :)

The stock injector is around 450cc/min at 3bar, there is no Mass Air Flow Sensor.

Thats brilliant cheers,

How does the engine regulate its airflow then?

Hmm, ill maybe keep the stock injector with a fuel pressure regulator and 255lph fuel pump then, should be enough for around 5-8psi.

Im planning a T3 sized turbo for quick spool and plenty of low down torque, my (fairly average) maths has told me that ill be blowing 10.71lbs/min at 5psi at a 1.34 pressure ratio which fits nicely into the compressor map for a T3 in 50 trim.

thats without an intercooler which i will probably end up getting for the sake of my engines health...

It calculates airflow primarily from the MAP and IAT sensor readings. The stock ECU will take a dump once it sees an invalid barometric reading.

yeh the ecu will not be staying, not without at least a piggyback one telling it what to do. Megasquirt does seem like a good idea...
