Extended Brake Hoses

Hi guys, well I've finally got my front axle rebuilt and back on the truck only to find more problems, I've change the front leaf springs as the ones on it were completely flat, the replacements are 2nd hand but with loads of curve on them and this has resulted in my brake pipes not fitting anymore so I need to get some made up. 1st of all how do I go about measuring the length I'm going to need.....jack the body up while keeping the tyres on the ground then adding a little bit for good luck?.....2nd where's the best place to get them, went to a local shop today that wanted £25 each and that was just for rubber, I want steel/braided. While I'm here I've also got a problem with one of my calipers, I can't get the piston to go back so I can re-fit it, tried a clamp and allsorts but it's not having it......any suggestions?
Cheers
Lee

To measure the hoses jack the passenger rear and drivers front wheel up till all 4 wheel start to lift and measure the distance, same again on opposite wheels to double check, and add a bit. Ideally you can want to force it onto the bump stops.

Llama 4x4 will do braided hoses, any length. I wouldn't call them cheap but Dave who runs it is spot on and you get what you pay for. I have had absolutely no issue with any thing from Dave. Brake hoses, springs, shocks, steering damper and other random bits and pieces.

And for the bit Jordi didn't answer.

I did this recently to push my pistons back. I think the picture is self explanatory.

Sounds like caliper may be a little seized. Possibly worth pulling it apart and cleaning with emery cloth.

Cheers guys, I'm liking the little device for the piston.........Llama 4x4 are advertising hoses up to 1m for £15.50, does this include for the SJ though?, I'll bell them I think.

Give Dave a ring, he makes them to suit what ever length / fittings people want.
Never heard a bad comment

If the piston is really tight I recommend you strip and clean the caliper.
If you force the piston back the chances are they will drag when refitted.

Phoned Llama and had a (LONG) conversation with Dave about fishing & things haha, he's a good man, gonna send me some 16" hoses and at a pretty good price as well compared to my local place.
