Hi, I'm new to the forum and this question may have already been addressed.
I intend fitting a Vit 16V mpi in my SJ.
Do I need an in tank fuel pump or can I use an inline one eg. Facet, and at what pressure should it be be run at?
Also do I need a fuel return pipe pluming in?
Thanks for any help

Re: Fuel pump for 16V MPI in SJ
You can use an inline pump but they are noisier than an internal pump. You need to be able to run at up to 50psi, the actual pressure is set by the regulator on the fuel rail.

Thanks Rhinoman, can a pump be fitted into a SJ tank?
Re: Fuel pump for 16V MPI in SJ
You'd have to modify it or fit an EFi Sammy tank.

Re: Fuel pump for 16V MPI in SJ
Thanks again, is the mod easy to do?
Where would I get an EFi tank?

Re: Fuel pump for 16V MPI in SJ
I've never modded the tank, I think that you would need to weld a new mounting flange on the tank. Try eBay for an efi tank.

Re: Fuel pump for 16V MPI in SJ
I modded my original tank. There is a pressing on the tank where the pump fits it looks a bit like a flower. I drilled a 70mm hole in the centre and removed the flange from the vit tank (spotwelds) and then welded this to the sj tank centralising it over the hole I had drilled. If you do this empty the tank of fuel and the fill with water so it dont go up in flames on you. When done empty the tank of water and make sure all swarf is removed before fitting it. I also braized an 8mm fuel return line in while fitting the pump
