Driveing around normally on sillypy stuff in 4l its fine any1 have any clue as to what could be happening

Transfer box mounts might be bent. Some times it cause the lever to knock against the hole in the transmission tunnel.

If it is bent mounts your better off straightening them.

I would echo exactly what Jordi said, the only thing I'd add is that I've found this happen to me before and it was as simple as the gaiter was bunching up in front of the transfer box's gearstick. This meant that the gaiter was very slightly pushing back on the stick when it was all the way forward (as in 4L). I just fiddled with the gaiter a bit to try and reduce the problem and it was fine.

having the gator on backwards can cause this and is the most common cause.

it could also be the that the lever bush is worn.

I've done what Scott said and put the gator on round the wrong way and it kept jumping out
