Got a couple of engine blocks from Andyrew (ta matey!). Plan is to get them all cleaned and make a coffee table!

But I did see this...get that rocker box cover off and check yours!!

Common fault.

Probably not a bad idea you reminded us again about it.

Not sure if the 1.6s do something similar?

Ohh yes. That was a low mileage engine Suppsedly.

Scottie may remember the call regarding water dripping
From the sump :hahaha:

Its also why the rockers are clean because water was shooting
Out the oil ways!

i lost a few from my 1.3 n robbed a few from a 1.6 from the scrappy n they were loose . . . i used a punch to put in a bit of a dent so they wouldn't come loose . . . they were all still tight when i swapped my engine about 10,000 mile later

Is it worth replacing them for Allan head c/sunk screws? I don't really trust posi-drives,

I had the problem on my f10a that I couldn't get them out however hard I tried. a client of our's is a maintenance engineer at the local printing press, and he removed for me at work, he had to use a oxy torch to get them out. the aluminium melted slightly around the screws, shows you how much heat he had to use! the head was already scrap, I just needed the parts of it. I have replaced them with allen head ones, and the guy supplied these for me, all for free, he's a great guy

From what I recall there was a TSB issued that says to stake the heads. I'm pretty sure that's its a Phillips head and not a Pozi-Drive.
