Starting and idling is all fine but when i coast, especially down hill, the engine just cuts out and i have to restart it, any clue what this could be? It always starts fine again, and doesnt do it when i normally coast, just down hill for some reason, thanks!!

throw another question in whilst im at it, will a 410 thermostat regulator fit a 413 manifold? they look identical and i have a 410 one, just wandered if it would fit in my 413?

I think it'll fit, physically. Is this because you've got 410 gauges?

no this is just because my temp sender isnt working but after driving for 10 miles the rad was still cool so i think the regulator isnt opening as it should, im testing it later, but if its knackered, i happen to have a new 410 that i never put in, so just curious as to whether they're the same to save me buying another.

RE stalling - I think the clue is the downhill (or possibly even up hill), it could be a carburettor float height problem or the fuel in the tank (especially if it's low) not being picked up through the pipe to the fuel pump.

My 413 did this for ages going down a steep hill...it was a partially blocked fuel filter..changed it then no trouble any more....

Won't be a carb float issue on an SU.
Bad driving in my opinion. The carb was fine tuned by a professional.

It did stall over and over last night dan and I nearly wrote you a strongly worded letter, then I realised I was just out of fuel...
