i really want to go diesel with my sj in the near future,but what would be the one to go for? my best mates grandad owns a scrapyard so sourcing an engine isnt really a problem! i have an izuzu 1.5td nova engine in a shed,it was going to be a generator engine,or would the 1.7 be better? i dont know ...

oh yes,it goes sideways very well on gravel,nearly rolled it on very compact mud tho!!

i suppose you wouldnt feel the locked front diff to much with the free whelling hubs? but your right,it is a bit of a pig on tarmac,havent had it on the road yet!

i know there not welded,i have the box somewhere with the original parts of the diff in,i will see if i can find out.

oh yeah its had all the floor cut out and replaced too as it was rusty.
