Vitara engine in Sj410
I'm thinking of fitting a Vitara engine in my project 410. To make sure I get a good running engine I think buying a whole Vitara is the best idea! My question is, as I also need a gearbox, do I buy a 413 gearbox and conversion plate or just use the Vitara gearbox that will come with the vehicle? I ...

Re: Inclinometer removal
On my old Sj I undid the bolt and removed the spring that holds on the wing mirror (plastic type). For some reason it just wouldn't come off, so I pulled and pulled, I didn't want to use a hammer as being plastic it might crack, it popped off while I was pulling and it went straight across my nose! ...

Re: New project
I did up my first SJ which needed loads of welding, trouble is that was 4 years ago and I used a friends welder. Now I have my own but it's not the best! A bit more patience required it think and possibly a smear of filler after to make it look nice! As long as its solid I guess it'll be ok!

Re: New project
Started the virtual lift on the front end! Cleaned the paintwork back to check for rust creeping up but it's surprisingly clean! Going to cut the other side out like this and then sort out getting the metal to weld it back together!

New project
I've not been on this forum for a long time! Bought myself a reasonably clean Sj410 the other day, minus an engine and seats! I've already stripped it right down to see what rust needs sorting out, and with a virtual lift and about 6 patches it will be sorted! Is already sitting on my 33's and the i...

1.2mm wire... 1.6mm wire??? I don't know what MIG you've been using but it sounds industrial! wire that thick will well 10mm steel plate!!! Most hobby welders and small automotive welders are normally between 130 and 180 amp and come with 0.8mm wire, although you can use 0.6 for very small applicati...
