Mines got an HIF44E and it works fine! I just left the solenoid as it is, unconnected. And hooked the lines up as with a standard HIF and off she went
Have you checked the float level and that the needle valve is letting fuel in?

Re: Lazy's samurai build
Definitely not 180 deg out?
Oh right, I won't ask why lol....who are NORK? Only reason I go to beeston is its the first local club I came across but they do tend to have a bit of a tight circle.

Re: ITS RUNNING!! a few fuelling questions however....
Thanks for the info guys!!
Ive also discovered what part of the problem may well be....it turns out the carb IS an HIF38 not an HIF44 which it was advertised as so I'm a little annoyed at this. I should have checked upon receipt of it but just assumed it was right

Re: ITS RUNNING!! a few fuelling questions however....
Its possible, I adjusted the mixture to roughly 3.5 turns out as a starting point and it was better than it was at first. Also I found the "piston" that moves up with vacuum inside the carb was stuck down, its free now but its harder to start with it like this (leaner??) What kind of pics ...

ITS RUNNING!! a few fuelling questions however....
Ok so FINALLY got the 1.6 running in the SJ, after alot of problems concerning starter motors. Got hold of a 1.6 Vit Bosch starter and it worked a treat. Anyway......I've converted to an HIF44 with rockwatt manifold and have had the engine running but it only seems to keep running if I hol...

Re: Starter!!!
Hi bud! Ive made a bit of progress with my whole starter problem thread and got hold of a Bosch skinny starter from a 1.6 8v Vit, and upon bolting it straight up it turned the engine over (with a limp battery I may add) :) PROGRESS!! Just need to get it back in the bay now ;) Anyway it looks like th...

Re: Alternative starter for sj 1.6 conversion
Thinking of buying a D6RA-12 as I know the motor and solenoid will be good and I can just change the housing from one of my D6RA-13's? The end looks exactly the same as far as bolts and positions of all holes etc
And this should work fine?

Re: Progress.....the 1.6 ran!! but I have starter problems
Can probably get one tomorrow, but its basically + jump lead to big terminal on starter from battery +, and - jump lead to bolt that bolts starter to gearbox housing normally (at the moment its just using the plate that goes between engine/box), which goes to - on battery. Then a small lead connecte...

Yes thats how Im testing it while its bolted to the engine out of the truck.
Its hard to test when its alone not attatched to anything as there's no resistance to the gear spinning, like there would be when its engaged with the flywheel
