Re: hello from the midlands

I'm just outside Rugeley, but have only been here a few months. Let me know when you're on the road!

Re: Big bang, lots of bits, no go!

Suzie is finally back on the road! After much hunting for the right gearbox, much swearing to get it fitted, and some new shiny heavy duty transfer box mounts she works a treat. It's much quieter than before (I guess that UJ must have been on its way out for a while) and I now have a 5th gear which ...

Re: Big bang, lots of bits, no go!

It's given the yokes on the 'drive' end of the shaft a good walloping; I would be more comfortable changing the whole shaft out. I did have some vibrations pulling away, but they only started about 2 miles before ultimate failure! Then again I haven't had the car long enough to 'tune in' to normal/a...

Re: Big bang, lots of bits, no go!

Right, the gearbox internals seem okay (all gears can be selected) but it's been smashed by the failed intermediate shaft as per the photos below. The transfer box rubber mounts look to have been sheared for a while, so I guess all that wobbling about took its toll on the shaft universal joints. So ...

Re: Big bang, lots of bits, no go!

Thanks for the quick reply. I've got it in the garage and am now taking it to bits. The short propshaft from the gearbox to the transfer box has failed, and this has smashed the gearbox casing (at the selector unit) up so this explains why I can't engage any gears. It does mean I'll be needing a new...

Big bang, lots of bits, no go!

Hello all, My SJ410 has just failed. There was a transmission whine on the over-run, then a rattling/shuddering at low revs (at which point I thought getting home was a good idea), and two minutes later, a very loud bang accompanied by bits of universal joint coming through the transmission tunnel. ...

One week in to SJ410 ownership

I've had my SJ for a week now. I bought it for snowy days, tip runs, hauling firewood and generally prattling about, but (out of choice) I've driven it to work every day this week and have done 300 miles already. I can honestly say I've not had so much fun driving anything since I sold my 1977 Porsc...

Hello all

Hi there,

Just bought my first Suzuki. Seems a good'un but I'll no doubt be hanging around for some advice over the coming months! The 70 mile journey home was uneventful but very pleasant and (to my surprise) she was happy cruising at 65 on the motorway.

Here she is....
