right then i decided to do another compression test and all is good so i then decided to pull the rocker cover and check the stem seals where i found that 2 of the cross head screws that fasten into the rocker shafts were missing and all the rest were loose! i found the missing screws in the oil all...

Just because there is no oil on the dipstick, doesn't mean there's no oil left between the 2 marks on the dipstick is about a litre of oil so if its off the bottom you might've only used 1.5l? It sounds as though maybe the rings then so i will have to see about re-ringing it then but it also gives me an excuse to put the vitara head on aswell while its all apart?

The engine runs well and is as dry as a bone as regards to any leaks so the oil is definately being burned.There is no overheating and no mixture of oil and water and water level has remained at the same level. I dont have any history as to mileage or servicing as it was bought as a donor engine and...

it could be the timing whats out or maybe the dizzy cap because if it was only a spark plug that had gone it would still start but run rough.

Just make sure that the cam pulley has the same style teeth as the crank pulley, there's two types available flat and round teeth. change the cam pulley to match whatever's on the crank if it is different. found this out the hard way when i fitted the 1.3 back in and all the pullies and the alterna...
