Re: E10 Fuel in Suzuki Samurai SJ413

We have a 2005 G Vitara and even though our owners manual says that E10 is ok for it - I chickened out of using it the other day and paid extra for the super duper E5 LOL. I will wait for some real world UK feedback before using E10,apparently E10 is not as stable as E5 in storage - because our car ...

'Universal' Bulb Kits LOL

Did a periodic lights check on our other car last week (2008 Sportage)- damn the LH front sidelight wasn't working - I have got it through the last 2 MOT's by 'tapping' the headlight unit near the sidelight bulb 8-) So I removed the bulb - sho' nuff it had 'blown' and it was of course a bulb type no...

Re: Black smoke

Hi David I am not really 'au fait' with your particular engine. Might be worth covering some basics ? How old is the air filter ? It might be worth putting some cleaning additive in the fuel tank - I usually use the Millers Diesel Treatment - other people swear by Fortes. The Fuel Injectors might no...

Re: Trouble

Forgot to say that is what the 'Blow By' check was for - if oil filler cap is removed whilst engine is running - any significant smoke/flow/pressure emanating from the open oil filler would point to worn rings/cylinders.But I would definitely check that the crankcase vent system is working correctly...

Re: Trouble

I will keep my fingers crossed for you that it is something simple. If the engine blows blue smoke during acceleration then it could be rings,if it tends to smoke on re applying power after 'coasting' or being on the 'over run' (say going downhill in gear but throttle closed) then it could be valve ...

Re: Trouble

Im not very good when it comes to engines. Where should I be looking for the crankcase ventilation ? I am not 'Au Fait' with your engine but with a 'standard' type of crankcase ventilation there will be a pipe/hose from the crankcase/sump area through a flame trap/PCV (positive crank ventilation) v...

Re: Trouble

Are you getting 'Blow By' if you remove the oil filler cap whilst the engine is running ?
Also on some engines you can get problems with the crankcase ventilation system either clogging up or perhaps old hoses collapsing internally

Re: New project GV 2002 1.6

Just to add - I hope you have more power than our 1.6 - obviously the slush box doesn't help on ours but larger diameter wheels would almost stop our GV LOL

Re: Pinking noise under load

I am assuming this engine normally runs on the usual 95ron fuel ? Have you ever tried it on (say) Tesco 99ron or any of the other 'super' grade petrol available ? I know you should not really need to but might help during hot weather (if hot weather is partly affecting your engine ?) Do you have a c...
