Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

Sooo... Is anyone else actually here? :| Anyway. On today's episode of 'Why do I keep doing this to myself?' IMG_1240.JPG As I've now got somewhere dry to store the old girl I thought I'd spend today pulling the roof and that sorry excuse for a bulkhead off. The roof was mostly held in with rusty se...

Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

Sup. After waiting half a lifetime for Royal Mail to deliver two sheets of gasket paper I caved and picked up a sheet at my local motor factors for 84p plus VAT. A bit of online sleuthing led me to some US sites selling the proper base gasket that goes between the manifold and the throttle bo...

Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

Haven’t I just… Limiting the number of fluids that aren’t petrol near the intake manifold sounds like a recipe for success… So would I just blank off both the nipples at the throttle body and under the manifold? While we’re on the subject of silly questions, what’s the doodad with the plug on...

Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

I finished putting on the first half of the exhaust today. Ol' mate Dave had the old exhaust clamped together with some m8 bolts that were very loosey goosey. The manifold flange is threaded for a 10mm bolt, but I believe it's a fine pitch? In any case the coarse pitch bolts I have would start on th...

Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

Dear Diary, I know I've been neglecting you, but life's been a whole thing lately. Building myself a lean-to has been occupying all my very limited free time, The last few weeks I've been working every hour god sends and a few more to boot. IMG_0759.jpeg Finally the SJ got moved inside. IMG_0941.jpe...

Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

Hey, what's better than one rusty POS? IMG_0739.jpeg Let this be a lesson for everyine: Don't ever sell cars to family. :| I was only supposed to give the Disco a service this weekend but in the nearly a year since its rebuild and MOT, it's eaten two front wheel bearings and ABS sensors, both front ...

Re: [Witty Title] '95 SJ413 rescue

That new exhaust finally tipped up today while I was at work, so when I got home I pulled the old exhaust off. If you squint you can just about see the difference, (bad photo I know) IMG_0610.jpeg I did make some Dave-related discoveries along the way, there is truly no part of this car he hasn't to...
