Could be a chaffed wire somewhere that shorts out when it moves with the vibration from the engine. I’m afraid something like that usually takes a lot of chasing down.
I really know that but as a change in circumstances mean my build has gone from what I wanted to a no cost and only what is already in the garage option a new carb is off the agenda. Guess I will live with it for now and keep an eye out for a carb in the future.
