I ran 31's on sammy axles with a 413 t-case and a 1.3, and although the 5th gear was useless it ran quite nice. You'll have bigger tyres, but lower t-case ratios. I took this pic then got told by a spotty Tesco 'yoof' to stop. I freakin' HATE these jumped up little bullies who think they have some kind of authority over the rest of us, and abuse that "authority" by making illogical demands. It's about making them feel big usually, not about the actual rules....
The 8v and the 16v have similar torque, but the 16v has more HP. Basically they should behave similarly until you start approaching the redline, where the 16v will pull harder. Last MOT was January 2017, passed with one advisory (Offside Front Front wheel bearing has slight play (2.5.A.3c)). It's off the road at the moment, it seems - but it's probably still out there somewhere.
