Re: Tyre sizes?
Agreed Andy, looks bang on for a road / user. Harsh on the spine? What, even more than my tired standard ones... hard to imagine. I need a rethink, and a bigger budget.

Re: Tyre sizes?
That table's very handy Scottie, was about to ask the same question. My standard Sami has 205/70s on it and they are shot. I saw one with alloys (proper Suzuki ones I believe) wearing 225s on (maybe 225/75, not sure). Question is, will my bog standard rims take 225/75s? I do intend an add-a-leaf to ...

Re: Project KJA
If your dad is used to doing minis, he must have actually got lost in the engine bay on this one! I used to have a '65 Cooper S... cracking but a complete 'mare to work on, and probably even more rust-ready.

Re: Project KJA
Brilliant thread, and a stunning build. I like SJs a lot, and pick-ups about as much, so
Very tasty indeed, well done.

Re: std wheel arch removal & refit
Ordered some of those Scottie, also found these with Posi on so got some of them too, just in case. They all seem to be 7mm so hopefully that's a standard: these are ebay no 370914964709

M reg Sami on eBay £2595
If anyone's interested I have looked this over. Seems mech good / genuine. Had a repaint metallic black, stonechip over sills, poorly repainted bumpers and repainted wheels (silver with new surface rust). Non-original seats. No signs of significant rust (wheelarches, floors etc) but bad paint job ma...

Re: std wheel arch removal & refit
Had a closer look today, not sure what I have got now. They are black plastic and core is plastic BUT has a posi head. Unscrewing does nothing, they just turn. I may resort to just extracing one by any means to see what it is. Seems a fuss over a small fixing but i'll need to get the arches back on ...

Re: std wheel arch removal & refit
Brilliant, thanks all. I seem to have both types - the screw version fixes through to bumper end moulding, and the push-in for arches. I'll get one out and check dia.
I suspected that donkeychomp - a lot of fixings go together fast (production) but knacker when taken apart.

std wheel arch removal & refit
Basic question as new to the SJ, I want to stop some minor rust so I need to remove the wheel arches on my '91 SJ, and there are 'plugs' under/inside wheel arch. Do these just pull out? and if so are they then scrapped or re-usable. Found these on eBay which might be replacements: plugs.jpg Advice a...

Re: pre-heating the fuel/air mix - questions
Thanks Twiss, got it and makes sense. I assume it's the adaptor that introduces this issue. I had thought of the copper tube idea (brake pipe maybe, bends nice?) but had been puzzled by the need. I'm thinking of getting a spare inlet manifold and doing everything remotely then bolting all the new bi...
