Re: SJ 410 Alternator Wires

14.1v is the maximum charging voltage for a lead acid battery. Batteries don't operate at the voltage stated on them - that's their "nominal" voltage. They operate at a range of voltages, the "nominal" voltage is usually somewhere in the middle of the range. I.e. Lead acid batter...

Re: Calipers

The Vitara was discontinued in 1999. There are no Vitaras with an 03 plate unless one or two sat around unregistered for a few years (some are reg'd 2000 for this reason). It's likely to be a Grand Vitara. Check. If its a GV, and if you really want the calipers, then you will need to put them up fro...

Re: Calipers

Those are Lucas-Girling calipers. I think they came on the Spanish built SJ's.

Re: Calipers

Those are Asin calipers. I know that some Jimnys (I *think* all of them, actually) came with those exact same calipers - get a photo and maybe we can tell you. I believe that the only difference between Jimny calipers and SJ Aisin calipers is that "Asin" is stamped on the top of SJ caliper...

Re: Calipers

Sounds like you have a mix of Aisin and Girling (aka Lucas-Girling) calipers. Don't mix and match, make sure you use the same type on your axle. You can use one type on the front axle, and the other type on the rear if you have to, so long as they match left to right, as the pistons in Girling are s...

Re: Calipers

Don't mess with Vitara calipers, they'll throw your SJ's brakes out of balance, and the bleed nipple is in the wrong place - so they'll be a pig to bleed, and as such probably not safe. Vitara calipers are physically different sized pistons to SJ calipers. If you put Vit calipers up front and SJ one...

Re: High Pitched Sound on Vitara

I had something like that happen on a Toyota. Turned out to be an undertray wasn't secured properly. At speed, wind got under it and made a variety of weird noises. I don't trust the main stealer as far as I can throw the building. That same car had some real weird issues initially - very high fuel ...
