Re: Hi, newbie after some advice

Welcome to the club! I've had 3 SJ's and am now driving a Vit. An SJ is better than a Vitara in almost every aspect I can think of. Better off road by a mile and on road you just have a constant grin on your face! My last SJ was modded and even with 31" tyres on I still managed 25+ mpg. Get an ...

Re: Vitara diff guard ??

Diff guard huh?

They do turn up on ebay but for silly money, I'll be making one up for my Vit soon (ish) and if it's easy enough I'm sure I can make another.

Keep an eye on the no dosh Vitara revamp

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp

Yep, I saw that diff thingy

But this is the NO dosh revamp...so tools out (snigger) and I'll fabricate one myself, got some 5mm steel lying about so I'll give it a bash (another snigger).

Will post pics next saturday along with the idea for the new roof.

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp

Hi Dan Yes it needs a few mods. The 215 tyres on it give it a 2" lift but it needs to go higher and wider! Maybe a body lift and some wheel spacers, not sure as yet. It needs a front diff guard as they are made from ally and one knock and it'll be buggered! Also looking into an idea for a home ...

Re: the no dosh Vitara revamp

Sorry for the lack of new info, a long going illness in the family and a forked PC hasn't helped either. Some progress with Piglet 3 (the vit lol) has been made but sadly with cash spent. The rad and water pump have been replaced, but cheaply! New rad was £40, pump £20...wow. All the little dents ha...

Re: Painting fiberglass hardtop...

I painted a mates hardtop last year, used some fine sandpaper, sprayed it in primer then satin black with a load of laquer on top. Still looks the pups now. Took about 4 hours all in and was well worth it.

Re: Got a quote

That's bonkers Dan.

My old SJ with all mods and 5000 miles was £145.

OK I am a bit older than you but they are taking the piss there.
