I would try dismantling it and just giving it a thorough clean through. Stale petrol turns to varnish after it's been sitting for a long time and can clog up small idle jets. I believe the EGR valve is an easy thing to remove and clean/flush through as appose to replacing it, as in there nature they are prone to getting quite easily clogged with carbon. Also worth cleaning out any hoses that go to and from the valve.
