Thanks again for your help.
Just found it! The reason the wire was not connected is because the spade connecter has snapped off the sender So im going to try and solder the wire straight on to it.

Thanks for the help guys. I striped them down earlier and both were just rusty and jammed. So i cleaned them off and greased them up as best i could. They did lock but now they wont unlock. So il have another go a them another day. At least i can take it off road now without getting stuck every 5 mi...

I just checked the hubs as you said, and the prop shaft didnt move the wheel just span on its own. S i think one or both of the hubs are not locking
Is there any way i can fix them??

I just found a loose wire in the engine bay, checked it like you said and it is the wire for the gauge. But i can find where it plugs in? im not sure where the sender is or what it looks like???

Yeah i did find it on ebay, but the guy lived in the same village as me so i was able to buy it straight off him.
It is a 1.3. Its got a few problems that im trying to sort out, and quite a bit of rust, but im still well happy with it :]
