Re: Restoring a SJ van body.

I only use anti seize where the bolt is 'in' something, not on the threads. It's easy to grind nuts off if they rust on, but it can get a bit messy if you cut it off and have to thrash the living daylights out of the bolts!

Re: Sealey MightyMig150 - Something you should know.

Today, I received the "Gas Conversion Kit". There was confusion between me and the supplier, I asked for a quote a few days ago and the delivery man turned up with the item and a invoice. I am now even more convinced that it's a rip off! You get the following 1) Regulator that fits on Seal...

Re: Restoring a SJ van body.

Well, bit more progress tonight.
Everything is out apart from seat belts, pedals, steering column bracket, master cylinder, engine and gearbox. It will hopefully be a bare shell by the end of the weekend. Once I get a regulator for the new MIG welder I can start patching up!

Sealey MightyMig150 - Something you should know.

I thought I'd just mention this to someone who might be thinking of buying the Sealey MightyMig150 (I'm sure it applies to the other welders in the MightyMig Range too). I've just bought a MightyMig150 for welding up the body of a SJ. I'm not a fan of Gasless MIG welding, just couldn't get the hang ...

Re: Restoring a SJ van body.

Be careful if changing load carrying fasteners to SS. SS ones are very weak compared to normal grade 8.8 and better bolts. They will be fine for doors and things like that. It's only the bits in the body I'm replacing with stainless. Body, transfer box, gearbox and suspension bolts will be new 8.8 ...

Re: Headlining Removal in a Tin top.

My SJ is loud as hell haha, the most annoying thing is listening to music over the exhaust... you can hear most of it but as the zorst drowns out some of it of it, you can hear specific parts of a song (ie. certain notes and instruments) and it sometimes sounds like something breaking haha Haha, I ...

Re: Restoring a SJ van body.

Yesterday I had a good evening taking bits off. Wings now removed, clutch cable, master cylinder, dashboard, wiring loom, accelerator cable, bonnet release cable, steering components and seats. I still need to remove the headlights before scraping the wings. Next step, is to remove the engine, gearb...

Re: Headlining Removal in a Tin top.

If its being used for offroading and will possibly see water that will enter the cab then stuck down sound deadening is a very bad idea in my opinion, water will get trapped underneath/in it and speed up corrosion. My Sj has no sound deadening whatsoever a 2" exhaust and pretty much solid engi...
