Re: manual choke control location
Excellent, that'll be where it's going then. Indeed Twiss, mine looks like it would fall out so an ali plate behind maybe.

Re: Welcome: Please read
Hello Scottie - I'm asking nicely. I just got a '91 Samurai which is very rust free and generally sound but I want to bring it up to excellent over time. I look on the for sale but can't see the pics, also I have a full power steering kit I don't need which I would offer to someone. Can I have an up...

Re: sj413 engine
I'm sure someone here will have needed to fit a new/reprofiled camshaft at some point, it must be possible without a head change surely? My Haynes manual explains how to remove and refit, but no reference to new bearing shells, does this mean the shells are cast into the ali head?! Sorry I'm new to ...

Re: WAXOYL sj 413
Good to see Waxoyl is still the stuff - last used it on an old Mercedes SL about 20 years ago (and on a 65 Cooper S before that). I just got a 413 and will be doing the same soon. Haven't inspected the sills yet but is there an easy way in to get the spray? I used to have a long clear plastic tube w...

manual choke control location
Small question please - about to fit a manual choke SU. Have the Haynes manual but the pics are all a grey blur... there is a small rectangular blank insert in the dash (91 Samurai) below left of steering wheel down at the bottom in a recess - that is my best guess at location. But can anyone say wh...

Re: '91 SJ413 carb advice please
Hi Andy - sorry but not allowed to receive pms either! Need to get to a magic 20 posts I think. Will be interested to see what you have anyway and in no big rush. Got hold of a cheap SU with adapter (on its way) to try but that doesn't rule out a Weber. I think the engine is clean and strong but dri...

I'm sure this has been covered, did have a search but I have a fiarly basic question please. Just got this 413 a few days ago and generally promising but cold start is v bad. I assume the carb is stock/original - it's this one: sj1.jpg SJ2.jpg Basic question is - do I get inside and check autochoke ...

Re: new here, SJ413
Many thanks all - it's the carb version and it looks like the original but not had time to get close to it yet. It certainly has autochoke problems - if the carb isn't choking on cold start does anyone have any techniques for starting?? It fires almost immediately but will not catch so I guess far t...

new here, SJ413
Hi all, just got a '91 413 after a bit of a hunt. It's a straight road car and virtually rust free (so far!) but there will be some mechanicals to be done. I think I'll need help finding bits ;) I'm in Sevenoaks, Kent so any other owners fairly local it would be handy to know - just to get up to spe...
