Re: A little summer fettling

Forgot to add that whilst under the car investigating the 'rumble' I had a quick look at the front propshaft - the u/j's on that look original and the rubber seals are very perished so I have bought another set of u/j's and will change them when I can get the GV up on mates ramp (he is still snowed ...

Re: A little summer fettling

Just to update this towards the end of the year. Back in may/june we decided to spend a couple of grand on some preventive maintenance on our 2005 G Vitara. A very low mileage car so still had original exhaust and suspension etc,I was too tied up with medical issues and my mate was snowed under with...

Re: A little summer fettling

One of my near neighbours has installed an electric car lift in his garage (he is a semi retired motor mechanic) and I asked him yesterday if I could put the GV up on it to change the diff and transfer box oils - he said - yeah bring it round now. I already had the oil in stock for the front diff an...

Re: A little summer fettling

I made the mistake of looking at the back of the car as well and found a rusty old wiper arm with a rusty old blade attached - also the spare wheel mounting was looking a little sad. https://i.imgur.com/4K5X3GX.jpg https://i.imgur.com/2NrdGhQ.jpg https://i.imgur.com/SGcj3Kt.jpg A little work with ro...

A little summer fettling

Hey we actually had some warm dry weather in Perthshire over the last week so I decided to do a little peripheral tidying on our 2005 Vitara 8-) I started off by cleaning and colour restoring all the Plastic trims etc - I have some Simoniz 'Back to Black' in a plastic bottle which I have had in stoc...

Re: HELP!! No brake pedal after rear disc conv.

If nothing else works could it at least partly be that you have 4 new discs and pads and that they all need 'bedding in' (burnishing) ?,I have had cars where when you replace brake friction components the Brake Pedal feels very 'springy' and can be pushed quite easily further down than usual, after 5...

Re: RPM not working

Hi I can't remember - it was a long time ago - the sensor probably works off crankshaft or flywheel, some are on the engine and some are on the clutch housing,it will not be difficult to change as long as you can positively ID its location (although might be awkward access ?) - not easy to find out o...

Re: RPM not working

Hi Flori and :welcome: Not sure about the suzuki applications but on my old Pug 405 with an XUD engine - the RPM sensor was on the gearbox,I know because the main bearings were worn on mine and the 'floating' internals actually 'machined' the sensor away completely. The RPM gauge used to 'flick arou...
