Re: Coil Spring Recommendations ?

Hi Richy No specific pics of chassis but I took a few of the old Spring which shows the area near the N/S rear wheel. Most of the chassis does not look as bad, obviously around the wheels gets most of the road salt etc. One of our fairly local garages is run by a real car enthusiast who does some car...

Re: Coil Spring Recommendations ?

Just an update I got a pair of KYB Springs (RC5907) and a pair of KYB Shockers (343247) - made by Kayaba, stamped as 'Made in Japan' (could even be true). I got them for a very reasonable price from 'Parts In Motion' on Ebay - both arriving on the next day. I am still waiting for a pair of Shocker Lo...

Re: Coil Spring Recommendations ?

I had to make a decision fairly quickly and eventually ordered some KYB (Kayaba) Springs and Shocks. They seem to get reasonable reviews and have a good parts catalogue to cross reference OE part numbers. Hopefully I can do at least one side tomorrow if the weather is not too bad - the GV is not rea...

Re: Vitara Gearbox / Transmission Oil

Many thanks for the reply/info Scottie. I was only double checking because of what it says in the Owners Handbook - it says GL4 for Front Diff and Transfer Box with GL5 for the Rear Diff. Using just the one oil for all 3 is much easier - I will get some on order :D Re the sealant question - again it...

Re: Vitara Gearbox / Transmission Oil

As above Our early 2005 G Vitara 1600 auto has just passed MOT with flying colours and I would really like to change all the transmission oils. Obviously need GL4 for Transfer Box + Front Diff + GL5 for Rear Diff. Any recommandations ? I was looking at Millers TRX Fully Synth 75w90 which is labelled...

Re: New Member in Galloway Scotland

Hi Brian And welcome from Perthshire Sounds like fun - I think your XL-7 will have a wee bit more power than our 2005 GV1600 Automatic LOL. I used to have a Volvo 262 2.7 V6 Auto many years ago and it was a great tow car. We also have a 2008 2.0 crdi Sportage which is our main car/tow car these days...

Re: Engine won't fire up

Do you have a hand priming bulb or pump Richy ?I am not 'au fait' with this particular engine. On my older diesels I used to switch ign 'on' and then used the hand primer to get fuel through the system. On a later car without a hand primer I once used a cheapish pattern fuel filter and ended up with...
