If the cable tension is different you might have broken something inside the clutch.
I had something similar many years ago... I think it might have been a broken finger on the clutch cover but it was years ago so I'm not sure

When I've done it before, kept the steering arm centered and measured from there. There won't be adjustment to be done on the tie rod.

You are using just the standard wiring for them? Probably not letting enough power through the 30 year old corroded wires.
Set up a relay for the full beam at least so it gets full battery power.
