Re: Headlining Removal in a Tin top.
Just get some ear defenders. £5, job sorted. ;) Haha I did that a few times, but I couldn't hear the radio. One of the locomotives at work is nicknamed "Uproar" and it's mandatory to wear hearing protection. The cab is basically a tin box bolted to the to of the gearbox and part of the en...

Re: Headlining Removal in a Tin top.
Id be inclined to cut across where the roof support goes across and remove it in Two halfs. Then when you refit it the join Is behind the bar. I never refitted the bar in mine after I done my headliner tho Sounds like a plan. I'd like to keep it in one piece in the off chance that I could remove th...

Headlining Removal in a Tin top.
Hi guys, I'm currently stripping down a 410 van. How to I remove the headlining without damaging it? I want to take it out so I can knock a dent out of the roof and to replace the fabric. So keeping it in one piece would be useful. I've already removed the bracket that runs across the middle of the ...

Re: Restoring a SJ van body.
I had a stroke of good luck tonight. Let me explain. My primary job is a Machinist/Welder/Fitter on the Ffestiniog Railway, my second job is I'm a Platoon Commander and Sargent Instructor in Clwyd and Gwynedd Army Cadet Force. Tonight was out parade night and one of the cadet's father came in to dis...

Re: Replace or Repair?
The van had spent it's last few years in a breakers yard. There are several bits of the dash missing. I suppose I could use the bits off the van, but it would mean trying to find all of the missing bits.

Re: Replace or Repair?
The donor car is a SJ410 VBJA and the current one is a SJ410 J Santana.
Just curious, but what's the letters (VBJA and J) after the SJ410 mean?

Replace or Repair?
I have been pondering what to do with a van body I've just bought. I've been debating which electrical loom to use. The one in the van won't fit on my Santana's instrument cluster. But the loom on the Santana won't fit the van (no controls for rear wiper etc) and the fact that it has been completely...

Re: Restoring a SJ van body.
Any Tips and Tricks would be much appreciated! Although... I'm not worrying too much about the dents at the moment. I'm concentrating on the rust first!donkeychomp wrote:Pity you are so far away, I'd have those dents sorted in a jiffy.
Good luck matey!

Re: Restoring a SJ van body.
Yes, I'm quite lucky that it's in reasonable condition. The first thing that my Dad said when he saw it was quote "What have you done now? I'm glad I didn't pay for it". But to be fair, he took it back after looking closer at it. I had a good luck underneath whilst I was waiting for some P...
