Tips on tidying up repaired bodywork?

Post by marksticky » Sun Jan 24, 2016 8:55 pm

So, I've recently taken up welding... It was either that or pay someone to do it for me, so I went out and bought a mig welder and set to work on the Vit.

I soon found out the more you dig, the more you find!

I also cut off that stupid mud-holding bit at the bottom of the rear arch whilst I had the angle grinder out...

Now, I'm pretty happy with my welds, but was wondering if anyone with more experience in repairing body work has any suggestions on how to go about tidying it all up... Filler? Whats best/easiest to use?

Any advice is appreciated!

Cheers,

Had the same problem on my Vit. Grind down all the weld seams then filler, primer, paint.
If it ticks over...leave it

Seems to be a problem on most of them over here! My SJ is the same age and doesn't have a spec of rust on it, but then that's spent it's life in sunny Spain :P

Any recommendations on what filler to use?
