Grand vit 2000 body mount welding

Post by Sausagefingers » Sat Jun 06, 2020 8:42 pm

Been working on the GV today. Recent purchase and doing the welding myself. I got to the osf body mount today and took out a section between the rubber mount and the sill - I mean TOOK OUT as in down to the floor pan.
Will it be okay for MOT to weld some 3mm flat bar in place and plate round that (to the floor) with bent sheet I've been using for the sills. Not sure what MOT man will want to see.
I don't have much space to weld near the rubber mount. I've got the nut off it but not tried lifting the body...will I have to undo others before I get any flex?
Any advice welcome chaps.
Cheers.

I think you have applied the right technique for the right kind of weld.

The average person's impression of how metal is welded is that you simply fire-up a blow miller dynasty 210 dx review torch and run it along the edge of a metal seam to weld it together. Or they probably think you can just run that same torch across any kind of metal and cut through it, like in the safe-cracker movies.
