The same thing happened to me many years ago, I flattened off the top of the bolt on the cylinder head, centre punched it and re drilled and tapped the hole with an M6 tap. Scary stuff........
At the time I managed to get rubber/steel washers for the rocker cover, as for bolts I got some M6 capheads - higher tensile strength - the only thing I had to do was put another washer between the caphead and the rubber/steel washer as the caphead has a smaller surface area under the shoulder of the head this was to stop the rubber / steel washer flexing when tightening up the caphead.
