cam/crank oil seals

Post by fozzie52 » Thu Nov 16, 2017 5:18 pm

Hiya,

I'm looking to do my cam and crankshaft oil seals and i've got a couple of questions.

in my manual for the toque specs to do them back up the values seem very low to me. I can't remember exactly but it was about 52ft lb for the cam and 70ft lb for the crank. I'm used to doing newer cars where it could be double that easily but if that's the spec that's what i'll do.

How do you hold the crank still to undo the centre pully bolt? just leave it in gear? because id imagine there's a lot of give in all the drivetrain.

The cam sprocket is has a keyway so it looks like its impossible to cock it up and put it on upside down or whatever so as long as the sprocket is lined up with the keyway and that's lined up with the mark i'm good to go yes?

Hope that all makes sense.

Cheers,
Ben
